DTN COMMENTS: A light live trade is being reported in parts of Nebraska and
Colorado near midday at $116, $1 lower than last week's weighted average. A
light to moderate trade took place yesterday in the South while moderate to
active business was reported in the North. Deals in Kansas and Texas were
around $114 to $115, $1 to $2 lower than the prior week's weighted averages.
Dressed business in Nebraska and Iowa had a full range of $181 to $186 (the
low end of the range was for delayed delivery), mostly $184 to $185,
generally steady to $1 lower than last week's weighted average. Asking
prices for cattle left on showlists are around $118 plus on a live basis,
and $187 dressed.
Beef cutouts are higher at midday (choice 220.51 +0.76, select 206.67 +0.86)
with light to moderate box movement (36.52 lds of choice cuts, 13.70 lds of
select cuts, 4.09 lds of trim, and 18.24 lds of ground). Cattle futures are
mostly modestly higher on live contracts, and mostly modestly lower on
